A recent article published in the Journal of the American Dental Association, June 1, 2012, reviews studies that were done on different types of home and in-office whitening materials and the possible effects on the enamel of the teeth. The following are the results of what was found.

Tests on the participants’ teeth were conducted before, during and after the procedures to determine certain mineral concentrations in their enamel.

After several different tests, the conclusions were all the same: There were no differences in mineral concentrations in the enamel at each of the evaluations, before, during and after the whitening procedures whether at home or in-office.

Here at Heart of the City Dental, we have all whitened our teeth and encourage each of our eligible patients to do the same. We use the same products that were tested in the study just discussed.
